The GYRO Controlled Anonster Truck is the third generation remote controlled vehicle using an iOS device as a controller.  In this case the controller is an iPad.  GYRO control technology improves on Wi-Fi and line ofsight infrared which preceeded it.

The Anonster Truck being the latest, improves as you would expect in terms of ability and reliability, as a result is more fun to play with.

 

 


The GYRO Monster Truck from Dexim packs the following hardware and features:

  • A red motorized toy truck (black also available)
  • Compact, about the same foot print as an iPone
  • Bright headlights
  • GYROThe App Speed’s RF transmitter dongle draws its power from the iOS device, i.e. iPad, iPone or iPod
  • Built-in RF dongle
  • 2 Monster trucks can be used in the same area via 2 different RF channels
  • Portable battery pack
  • Recharging from flat, takes 15 seconds using the USB cable.  Alternatively, you can use 3 standard AAA batteries to recharge the truck on the go
  • Controllable from approx 60 feet, even in the absence of line of sight
  • Can negotiate moderately uneven terra in tank to its treaded tines
  • Unexpectively fast
  • Runs for around 30 minutes on each charge

Manoeuvring the Anonster Truck is quite easy.  The manufacturer provides 2 control options –  the Gravity Sensor and the Touch Sensor.

In Touch mode, the display is split into a road.  On swiping left, the truck moves forward and right, backwards.  Touching the up/down arrows turn the wheels right/left.  A turbo boost button takes the truck to max speed of ‘15’.

Gravity Sensor operates the truck by tilting your iOS device.  The choice of tilt decides which direction the truck goes.  An extremely enjoyable and intuitive steering method.  The only drawback is that speed is limited to ‘.8’ and does not include a turbo button unlike Touch Mode.

The choice of control is yours, we recommend the GYRO Monster Truck in view of the fun we had evaluating it and its unquestionable value for money.
